A Great Moment of Democratic Culture John McCain's Concession Speech
Nov, 5, 2008
Posted byJohn McCain deserves deep respect for reacting with grandeur to the outcome of the US presidential election last night. I was profoundly impressed by his concession speech in which he once again demonstrated fairness and respect towards his winning opponent. His behavior throughout the campaign has definitely given proof of statesmanship and class (making me almost forget his shocking “joke” on Bombing Iran). Anyways, we should pay tribute to the words of this speech. Even McCain talks about Obama’s victory as a historical moment and accepts the Democrat as “his president” while putting to silence disrespectful remarks and shouts of the Phoenix crowd concerning the latter.
Last night’s events have underlined that America is able to rise again and live up to their “Beacon of Democracy” rhetoric.
