The Inaugural Oath: Who messed it up? Chief Justice John Roberts or the 44th President of the United States Barack Obama?

Posted byWhen Barack Hussein Obama took the oath at 12.05 am he was already President of the the United States. The presidency did not start off too well for him though as there were obvious problems with the Inaugural Oath. Who messed up? Chief Justice John Roberts mixing up words or Barack Obama getting confused?

This is the oath contained in the U.S Constitution:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
And here’s the transcript of what was actually said:
